When Fabule met Side by Side (northwest coast of Greece)

Five years ago, we were invited to cruise the blue waters of Corfu, Paxos and Antipaxos aboard Side by Side (Lagoon 450). It was a beautiful experience that consolidated our own project to buy a boat. Last year, as we were experiencing a cold and rainy week in Norway, we had a video call with our friends, wearing bathing suits and sunglasses in the cockpit of their spacious catamaran. We wanted to experience this summer vibe with Fabule as well.

One year later, in a synchronized timing that we could not have planned better, we both reached the bay of Sivota with our respective boats. Side by Side coming from Corfu and Fabule from Preveza. What an emotional moment!

We are looking forward to cruising the Ionian islands together for the next two weeks.

Socializing in Preveza

In order to reach Sivota, we first had to move north. We went along the west coast of Lefkada.

Next, we sailed to the Greek mainland and followed the buoys through the shallower waters which leads to the town of Preveza and a large enclosed gulf (Ambracian Gulf).

Sunset over Preveza (from anchorage)

After one month at anchor, we moored Fabule at the city quay of Preveza. When we arrived, we were eager for social contact. We chatted with several boat owners, including the crews of 2 Canadian boats. In addition, it was time for some serious cleaning of the outside of the boat, as a layer of salt had formed.

The waterfront of Preveza is very animated, especially in the evening. After two busy days, we were ready to leave again.

Meet up in Sivota

The next leg along the northwest coast of Greece brought us to the village of Sivota-Mourtos. It is surrounded by islets with trees and pristine water, creating several beautiful anchorage spots.

Sivota-Mourtos was the meeting point with Side by Side. We both anchored close to the beach of Montastery bay, thanks to Side by Side who liberated their spot for us and then went through the trouble to reanchor in a tight place.

Exploring caves in Two Rocks Bay

Together with Side by Side, we then used the typical afternoon wind to sail south to the spectacular anchorage of Two Rocks Bay.

It was so nice to snorkel and visit caves in this bay. And it was even better in the company of our friends.

When we made plans to come to Greece, we were looking for sun and warmth. Well, I guess you need to be careful what you wish for: we are experiencing the hottest July weekend in Greece in the last 50 years!

A bientôt. Merci pour vos belles photos. On a l’impression d’y être.
Bises à vous deux.
Chantal, Jean-Yves et Groucho 😉
