A weather window had opened for us to do a passage from Brittany to the Channel Islands. We had made several navigation plans that day and Guernsey turned out to be the best destination according to the wind. It was a wonderful sail under spy for most of the passage.
It was the first time we used the spy on Fabule. Brad had set up all the fittings and showed us how to hoist it. In addition, he has his ways with Aeolus, so that the winds evolved during the passage allowing us to almost reach Saint Martin’s Point without changing the sails. A good thing we were making progress as there was yet another gale wind warning for later that night. We arrived at St Peter’s Port in the evening and had to wait for the sill of Victoria Marina to open at high tide. This was done while eating spaghettis.
Victoria Marina is located right in front of the town. The following, after taking care of boat related activities, we explored the lovely town of St Peter’s Port.
Powered by the wind, we arrived in a new country, were people drove on the left side of the road. We loved the English style breakfast and the pub. Guernsey has lifted all Covid restrictions. When entering a restaurant, it feels so good not to have to put your mask and produce your vaccination passport. In between rain and hail, we walked along the coat for a beautiful point of view.
With the precious help of Brad from Brittany Sailing, Fabule is getting all equipped and ready for more cruising.
