Hola Andaloucía

This week, we made way toward the entrance of the Mediterranean sea and reached Cadiz (Andaloucía) after a nice downwind sail.

Say goodbye to friends

The people we meet are an essential part of this journey. In Lagos, we had such a good time with fellow sailors Sarah and Phil (Vagrant), Pam and Tom (Stealin’ Time) as well as Maria and Johannes (Moggulus) that we were sad to leave and depart from such good company.

Of course, we also tackled several boat projects. The most gruesome was the clean-up and maintenance of our toilet pump.

Cherry on the cake, we briefly meet Mads and Ava (Athena), whos DYI youtube channel Sail Life we have been following for more than 5 years.

Nice downwind sail to Cadiz

Finally, we got a weather window to set sails to Cadiz. First, we wanted to stay close to the lovely shore but there was no wind to be found there.

A little more off shore, we caught a nice downwind and rigged wing on wing. It lasted for the entire passage. The wind even blew longer than predicted and we had to slow down during the night in order to arrive by daylight.

Our friends from Quebec will understand why the name of this boat caught our attention. We had already crossed its path in the English Channel. Unfortunately, he did not answer when we contacted him on the VHF radio. Hence, we will never know why he chose this name.

We really enjoyed this smooth sail to reach our final destination of the year.

Safely moored in the marina, we are ready to discover the rich history of Cadiz.
