Cycling to Trollpikken

This week we moved south after picking up our parcel in Stavanger. The labyrinth of islands and fjords in the Stavanger area provides protected waters that we had to leave in order to follow the more exposed coast toward Tananger and Egersund.

Sailing in the Hogsfjord

On a sunny day, we explored the islands in search of a nice anchorage. In this month of July, we soon realised that we were not the only ones aiming for the pontoons. In addition, mooring buoys were installed all over the little bays. Unfortunately, it is not safe for us to use them because of the weight of the boat. On the bright side, we enjoyed nice sailing in the Hogsfjord while getting to Viga, an anchorage we knew was adapted for us. Hogsfjord is a little larger and the winds seemed more steady. On the way back, we made good progress while sailing into the wind and tacking every 15 minutes.

Stop in Tananger

Tananger is a sheltered harbour on the west coast, where we stopped to wait out a strong blow. We also got the frame of Silvia’s glasses repaired by an optician.

Cycling in Egersund

During the sail to Egersund, we had a little of everything between 4 knots and 28 knots. The motion of the sea was very confused because of the strong winds of the previous days. We also experienced a big squall. Once arrived in Egersund, we moored along the harbor quay as the berths were all too small. With a blow announced for the next day, many boats were seeking shelter and another boat rafted along us. This is how we got to know the owners of Tummler from Switzerland.

The next day, we took the bikes out of the lazarette and made our way to Trollpikken. This rock formation has caught people’s imagination.

While riding along this wonderful scenery, I thought of my spinning friends and colleagues from Diabsolut / HRWize. Do you recognise the T-shirt?

We will stay a few days in Egersund, a lovely village where there is more to explore once the sun comes back.

Love the shirt Silvia 😀 and the updates – I always read them and smile!

It is so nice to hear from you, V. We have 3 sunny days in a row and cannot let them go to waste.

Bien mieux vos vélos que nos “vélos-rail”. Sûrement moins bruyants… Merci pour ces belles photos. Des bises du sud de la Norvège. Beaucoup de monde. Nous la quitterons bientôt pour la Suède… Bon vent ! Chantal & Jean-Yves de Groucho Mx (Marx ou Morlaix, au choix !)
